Privacy Policy — Hakus Radio (Android)
Last updated: 3 October 2026
中文版
This page applies to the Android (Google Play) version of Hakus Radio. For the iOS privacy policy, see here.
Who this applies to: the Hakus Radio app on Google Play (package cc.hakus.radio2, including its Wear OS companion). Contact: contact@hakus.cc.
In short: there are no accounts. Your stations, favourites, history and settings stay on your device. The app shows Google AdMob banner ads and, where the law requires it, asks whether you agree to personalised ads. Firebase Analytics is off by default and crash reports are on by default. We do not sell your data.
Data stored on your device
- Stations you add or save, your favourites, playback history and settings. This data is not uploaded to us, and deleting the app deletes it.
- Depending on your device's backup settings, app data may be included in your Google account's system backup. The re-downloadable station directory cache is excluded.
Network connections the app makes
- Radio streams. When you play a station, your device connects directly to that broadcaster's stream server, which, like any website, sees your IP address. Some stations also provide "now playing" information or artwork from their own servers.
- Default station list and update check. The app downloads its default station list and checks for new versions from GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com).
- Custom station source. If you enter your own station-list URL in Settings, the app downloads the list from that URL.
- Radio Browser directory. The Explore screen loads popular stations from the open directory at radio-browser.info, and your searches are sent there.
- Song artwork. For some stations the app sends the title of the song that is playing to Apple's iTunes Search service to look up its artwork.
- Wear OS. The watch companion talks to your phone through Google Play services to show and control what is playing.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
- The app shows banner ads served by Google AdMob.
- Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), Google's consent form asks whether you agree to personalised ads. If you decline, or do not give consent, ads are non-personalised.
- You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy Settings → Reset Ad Preferences.
- To serve ads and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect, within your consent, the device's advertising ID, your approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interactions and diagnostic data. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Analytics and crash reports (Firebase)
- Firebase Analytics is off by default and only runs if you turn it on.
- Firebase Crashlytics is on by default and sends crash reports (device model, OS version, the crash stack trace) so we can fix bugs. You can turn it off at any time.
- Both switches are in Settings → Privacy Settings.
Device permissions
- Notifications: to show playback controls while a station is playing.
- Foreground service and wake lock: to keep playing in the background and with the screen off.
- Run at startup: to keep scheduled background work running.
- The app does not need camera, microphone, contacts, photos or location permissions.
What we do not do
- No account or login, and no access to your contacts, photos or GPS location.
- We do not record, download or store the audio you listen to.
- We do not sell your personal data.
